This is the third project awarded to design build facades by the Museum. The first at Tring in 2019 was the external refurbishment of the Ornithology Building and then in 2020 works were undertaken to replace the curtain walling of the Palaeontology Building, Kensington.

design build facades are Principal Designer and Principal Contractor on this 2 stage design + build project. The works include repairs to the concrete structure followed by the installation of an Aluminium over cladding system with fully integrated windows. The upper terraces will have a roof upgrade to improve thermal performance to meet or exceed current standards and this has involved working over and around existing MEP services.

Due to the location of works being in Central London the site is very restricted for deliveries and storage and required a temporary access system involving scissor lifts and purpose built scaffold in the more difficult areas.
