Works comprised overcladding of existing college buildings with an aluminium rainscreen system integrated with high performance double glazed timber/ aluminium composite windows and replacement link corridor with curtain walling. The building was occupied throughout the build programme.

This is the second sustainable refurbishment project at Harlow College Campus by design build facades (K Block was completed in January 2022). This adds to the visual upgrade of the campus whilst substantially reducing heating energy consumption, improving solar gain and elimination of maintenance to the external fabric.

  • Building life extended by more than 60 years
  • Heating energy consumption reduced by up to 80%
  • Operational carbon emissions reduced by up to 80%
  • Contemporary quality building – “looks like a new building”
  • Capital payback in c.10 years from savings in heating energy alone
  • Project progressed whilst the building was fully occupied with minimal disruption.
