Firebreak inspection carried out with James Viljoen from LBH on the 4th April
Panels were removed at 2no locations at 1st floor slab level exposing the 150mmthick rockwool insulation and rockwool spanatherm firebreaks as follows ;
– Vertical firebreak (at party wall location ) is 100mm thick spanatherm fixed back to the structure with galvanised restraint straps in accordance with manufacturers instructions and BC which projects forward of the existing rockwool touching the back of the panel (see attached photo )
– Horizontal firebreak is 100mm thick spanatherm fixed back to the structure with galvanised restraint straps in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and BC located at slab and touching the back horizontal lip of the panel
Conclusion
Both myself and James were satisfied that the horizontal and vertical firebreaks spanned the full width of the aluminium rainscreen cavity and were in a good rigid condition.
