The original, 1960’s construction was refurbished in c.2000 when the original, non-combustible curtain wall to the main elevations was replaced using combustible UPVC/PUR curtainwall. d+b facades undertook the overcladding of the building for Fortem/OCC in 2016 and requested approval to substitute, at no additional cost and identical in appearance, the specified ACM, PUR & HPL for noncombustible, Solid Aluminium & mineral wool that would look identical to the prescribed products. The PUR/ACM substitutions were approved however OCC insisted on use of HPL. d+b facades proceeded as directed, using the prescribed HPL but of their own volition, introduced FR grade in full compliance with building regulations at that time.
